Vivek Kolli (6th grade), Nishal Chitteti 6th grade ) and Nikit Chitteti (8th grade) participated in National Chess Day Tournament in K-8 category held at MOSH on October 14, 2023, conducted by Scholastic Chess .Vivek Kolli won 4th place in K-8 section of individual standings in the tournament . Based on school pairings, Vivek Kolli, Nishal Chitteti and Nikit Chitteti, representing Fruit Cove Middle School, won 2nd place in the tournament. Congratulations to these young men for their outstanding achievement and for representing Fruit Cove Middle school’s Chess Club.

There is rehearsal for Singin’ in the Rain today and Thursday after school in Ms. Padgett’s room. This is for all onstage members. For all cast and crew, make sure you join the Schoology group for a full calendar of rehearsals.

B6 Club, NJHS, and WEB are sponsoring a canned food drive from November 1 through November 9. Please bring in any nonperishable food items for the collection. There will be a table set up in the main hallway where you can drop of your donations. Members of WEB and NJHS will be there to collect the items and record your donation for your homeroom. The homeroom with the most donations will receive a cookie treat from NJHS.

National Junior Honor Society is holding a Veteran’s Door decorating contest. The contest begins on November 1 and will run through November 9. All members of NJHS are required to participate in this event. Please go to the Schoology site and sign up for a door. Two members per door.

The Flyer Volleyball Teams will play Home against the Landrum Lions this Thursday, November 2nd. The theme for the night is Hawaiian attire, so come out with your best Hawaiian outfit and show support for the teams! Girls’ play at 5:30 and Boys’ play at 6:30. Congratulations to FCMS XC runners who ran at the Gamble Rogers 3K meet on Wednesday. Bryce Cunningham #10 and Casey Conover #6 placed in the top 10 in the boys Race. Wallen Westlyn placed #10 in the girls race. Congrats also to Megan Hart, Anna Whitmann, Jayden Woodall, Parker Waugh and Mudil Nair who set new PRs! Well done runners!!

Flyer Girls and Boys Volleyball played had a two-game sweep against the Murray Bulldogs last night . The Girls won with a record of 5-5 and the Boys remain undefeated with a record of 10-0. Lead stat earners for the girls were: Emily Kime with 13 aces and 3 assists, Maya Geerdes with 4 kills, Brianna McNulty with 3 assists, and Emma Kelley with 8 digs. Lead stat earners for the boys were: Brayden Carroll with 6 kills, Jay Balakumar with 5 Kills, Cameron Parish with 8 assists, and Carson McKitterick with 3 digs. The cast list for Singin’ in the Rain was posted this morning outside of Ms. Padgett’s room. Please plan to stay tomorrow after school for a read through of the script. The meeting should last until about 3:30. Backstage members are welcome to come and enjoy the reading!

Congratulations to our XC runners earning medals for placing in the top 10 this weekend at North Florida Middle School XC Champs: Jordan Erickson and Danny Itkins. Runners earning ribbons for placing top 20 were Matthew Hurski, Harrison Lafser and Chase Petrick, and Brynn Jenkins. Congrats also to our FCMS Boys XC team finishing Second overall.

Flyer Girls and Boys Volleyball played hard last night against the Swiss Point Raiders . The Girls lost in three sets with a record of 4-4 and the Boys remain undefeated with a record of 8-0. Lead stat earners for the girls were: Emily Kime with 7 assists and 3 aces, Brynn O’Dwyer with 6 kills and 8 digs, Maya Geerdes with 5 kills, Emma Kelley with 5 digs and 3 aces, and Avery Richardson with 4 digs. Lead stat earners for the boys were: Brayden Carroll with 13 kills, Jay Balakumar with 6 Kills, and Carson McKitterick with 12 assists and 4 digs.
