Today we will wrap up our learning around the Preamble to the Declaration of Independence by examining what is meant in the phrase “consent of the governed.” According to the Declaration of Independence, government does not give individuals the natural rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Individuals are born with these rights, and government protects these rights with the consent of the governed. Government, then, gets its power from the people who are being governed. Government becomes tyrannical when the government becomes oppressive and does not protect the rights of the people. If this happens, the people have the right to “alter or abolish” the government (change or replace it with another government). This was something that had never been done before. To ensure their promise was not empty, the signers let the world know that they were committed to ensuring that life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness were the key principles upon which their nation would be built.”
Flyer Girls and Boys Volleyball had big wins over the Gamble Rogers Stingrays last night at Home. Both teams are undefeated with a record of 3-0. Lead stat earners for the girls were: Brianna McNulty with 3 aces, 3 kills, and 3 assists, Brynn O’Dwyer with 3 kills and 3 digs, and Emily Kime with 3 assists and 3 digs . Lead stat earners for the boys were: Brayden Carroll with 4 aces and 7 kills, , Cameron Parrish with 7 assists, Carson McKitterick with 4 assists and 4 digs, and Jay Balakumar with 3 aces and 6 kills.The Flyer Volleyball Teams will play at Home against the Murray Middle Bulldogs on Tuesday, October 3rd. Please come out and support both teams! It’s Dig Pink theme, so come out and show your Pink Out attire! Girls’ play at 5:30 and Boys’ play at 6:30.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will begin meeting Wednesday, October 4th. The club is Open to all FCMS students. If you would like to have fun and fellowship with your peers, please come on out. We will meet after school in the weightroom from 1pm to 2pm.
