Today is 9/11 Heroes’ Day, observed in Florida on September 11. Today we honor those who perished in the September 11, 2001 attacks, including 2,763 people at the World Trade Center in New York City, 189 people at the Pentagon in the Washington, D.C. area, and 44 people on United Airlines Flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania. We remember the sacrifice of the many emergency responders, military personnel, government employees, and civilians who responded to the terrorist attacks of September 11.
We now ask for our school community to observe a moment of silence in honor of those lost. … (pause for a moment of silence) … Thank you. Students in Civics classes today will be learning more about the events of September 11th. We encourage all our students to learn more about the events of that day and those who demonstrated selfless heroism.
