Rising 6th Graders

Dear 6th grade families,

Welcome to Fruit Cove Middle School!  Whether you are new to the area or just new to 6th grade, all of our 6th graders will be new students at FCMS. This is a new adventure for everyone.  You are about to enter a middle school journey at one of the best schools in the state and we can’t wait to meet you!

Students:  We have hand selected a group of 8th graders who will work all year to mentor, encourage and support you in your new journey; they are called “WEB Leaders.”  WEB Stands for “Where Everybody Belongs.”  The WEB Leaders have been working since last spring to plan a pretty cool morning for you on August 1stPlease join us on August 1st from 8:30am to 12:00pm for 6th Grade “FCMS Flyer Induction.”  We will introduce you to your new school, new teachers and new classmates. The best part of all is that we will have a whole lot of fun! We will give you a school tour and you will be able to check out things like the gym, the locker room, the media center and so much more.  This is your opportunity to talk with 8th grade leaders, ask questions, meet new friends and get the inside scoop on all things Fruit Cove. We have this special day planned for you so that you will feel comfortable and confident and can hit the ground running on your first day of school.

Parents:  FCMS Flyer Induction with our WEB Leaders is an event just for our students, but don’t worry, we have something planned for you too!  Middle school orientation will be held on August 9th from 8:00am-11:00am.  Our orientation schedule has been organized by grade level in order to accommodate parking and school access:

8:00am-  9:00am                   8th grade students/families

9:00am-10:00am                   7th grade students/families

10:00am-11:00am                 6th grade students/families

We look forward to meeting 6th grade parents with their students on August 9th at 6th grade orientation from 10:00am-11:00am.

Rising 6th graders are welcome to bike, walk or have a parent drop them off at the doors to the auditorium and then pick them up in the parent pick up line at the front of the school at 12:00pm.  This is a very important event for our rising 6th graders and we are aiming for 100% participation! If you have any questions, you can reach our WEB Leader teacher, Kristen Alford at [email protected]  We can’t wait to welcome all of our rising 6th graders to the Flyer Family!
